We receive many requests for custom cuckoo clocks. I sure understand, as wanting my idea for a cuckoo clock to come to reality is what launched this business.
The first cuckoo clock I designed reflects my long-time career in the world of quilting. As a many-time author (does 34 books count?) and TV celebrity (in the little world of quilting), I know that for quilter, heaven is a quilt shop. Therefore a quilt shop was a natural for being turned into a cuckoo clock!

What an honor it was to make!
Yes, we do accept requests for slightly custom, and on occasion one-off cuckoo clocks.
Our clocks are powered as Black Forest Cuckoo Clocks have been for centuries: by gravity from the weights hanging on the chains. We love the simplicity of the simple physics of the cuckoo clock. While we use high tech tools such as CNC’s and lasers, those are simply tools to make the clocks. Our clocks are anything but high tech themselves! And therein lies their beauty.
Therefore, we use only traditional weight-driven movements. The cuckoo gets his voice from the bellows. If we use music boxes they are of the old-fashioned mechanical persuasion. Our clocks are not powered by batteries or recorded music or voices. The movement creates the power for the cuckoo and any animation, thereby limiting what actions can take place and where.
Consequently, some requests are beyond the scope of what we do:
- We can’t make the cuckoo speak like a human, bark like a dog, etc.
- Nor can we have him only come out at 2PM on Friday for TGIF. (A common request!)
Pricing depends upon the amount of work involved. We receive requests for designs that involve a simple change, such as a different paint color

Or your idea may be an entirely new design which require building the entire clock from scratch. Please contact me if you are interested in such a clock, but keep in mind that lead time is often at least a year. They are one-off pieces of art and as such require a lot of time to make!
