So many people have been asking and asking and asking again about this clock that I decided to post this and offer the clock for ordering before the first one is completely finished.

All that is left are a few little details, plus the animation for the quilter and kitty (dog), the cuckoo door, the decorations in the peak, and the pendulum bob.

Since this clock takes a full month to make — just one of them — I wanted to get those anxious quilters in the queue as they have been waiting so long for their cuckoo clock.

Quilt Shop Cuckoo Clock — in Progress

In her former career Jodie was a quilting TV host and producer, many time author, and teacher. Her vision for her cuckoo clock designs is for the clocks to marry our passions and interests, the Quilt Shop Cuckoo Clock is a natural.

The Design

As we quilters know, the local quilt shop is a happy place, and this clock is designed to be just that. From its clapboard siding to the quilts hanging in the shop to the window boxes and shutters, this clock is as all-American as quilting.

The fun steps up a few notches when the clock strikes. On the hour and half hour the cuckoo cuckoos, the quilter raises her arm to rotary cut, and the kitty (or dog) hops up and done with glee.

Options

Would you like your clock to be personalized? I can add a plaque with your family or quilt shop name, or engrave the pendulum bob.

I’ll be happy to paint the clock with whatever color scheme you desire.

You have a choice of the kitty or dog for the clock, which I can paint the color you wish.

The Clockworks

The clockworks are 100% German, imported from the Black Forest. The Regula 8-day movement, the Keinzler bellows, the cuckoo, and even the lift wires for the bellows are he same as used by the cuckoo makers in Germany. From there, I design and build my clocks at my farm in Hickory Flat, Georgia. They are made as they are in Germany.

• Handmade of local poplar and birch plywood
• Three animations: On the half hour (just once) and the hour (the number of hours) the cuckoo emerges from the cuckoo door, the quilter raising her arm to rotary cutter, and the kitty or dog hops up and down with glee on a stack of bolts of fabric
• Measures 15″ W x 14″ T x 7.5″ D minus pendulum and weights
• Brass 8-day Regula movement made in Schonach, Germany
• Auto shut-off silences the cuckoo at night, clock can also be set to silence
• Bellows made by Keinzler in Schonach, Germany
• Weights: option of hand forged by a local blacksmith or traditional cast pine cone cast weights imported from the Black Forest
• Designed and made by Jodie Davis in Hickory Flat, Georgia with a little help from my husband Mark Rowell
• Instructions for setting up and caring for the clock are included

Availability

Please note that we hand craft our clocks one at a time. Each clock takes us dozens, or for those with animations and many figures, etc. hundreds of hours to make. As such, our production is limited. An estimated ship date from when an order is placed is noted above, but that changes depending upon what is in the queue. When you order a clock I will respond with an anticipated ship date. I appreciate your patience!

Delivery

When possible, we prefer to hand deliver our clocks, thereby avoiding the inevitable jostling involved in shipping. But we are happy to ship to you wherever you are.

Our clocks are packed carefully with materials particular to each clock. Please keep that box in case you need to pack your clock for shipping one day as the included packing is safest for your clock. Bubble wrap is not a cuckoo clock’s friend!

For clocks to be shipped, the boxed clock is then packed in a shipping box to further protect the clock.

We charge only the cost to ship, using UPS inside the United States and either Postal Service or DHL to Canada.

Yes, I do ship outside of the United States. We charge the actual cost to ship to you.
