Nothing says “home” like, nor is more American than, a log cabin. My vision in making this piece was to create that sense of warmth and independence that we associate with our pioneer spirit.
The Design
The logs are real work, chinked with caulking. I’ve learned a lot of dollhouse-making techniques creating my clocks, including the chinking and making the chimney out of rock-like material.
Since the scaled of my clocks is determined by the movement, my clocks are smaller than dollhouse scale. therefore I create all of the people and animals on my clocks.
Options
Would you like your clock to be personalized? I can add a plaque with your family name, or engrave the pendulum bob. Send me an email, text or call to discuss what you have in mind.
The Clockworks
The clockworks are imported from the Black Forest: the Regula 8-day movement, the Keinzler bellows, the cuckoo, and even the lift wires for the bellows. From there, I design and build my clocks at my farm in Hickory Flat, Georgia. They are made as they are in Germany. I know, I shot a TV show there and have been in the factory when I had my first models made there. Plus, I learned clockmaking by taking cuckoos apart.
